Hello everyone!
Last week I saw this post at Sofii @ A Book. A Thought. about this fun way to clean up the TBR, and I thought- WOW I really need to do this!!
My Goodreads TBR only got longer after I started book blogging… and I am definitely adding to this list at a quicker rate than I am getting books off this list haha. Also, over the last few years, my taste in books really changed, and I find that books that I once wanted to read I really have no taste for now.
According to the rules below, I will select 5 titles that I will be purging from my TBR. And here is YOUR chance to convince me to keep any of these books!! I will tally up the votes at the end of the week and add the most popular “low” book back onto my TBR. (Thank you to Sofii for this great idea!!)
(Also, to be absolutely transparent, I’ve taken the opportunity to clear some of my “definite no’s” from my TBR already which did not make it on this list haha. The books on my “low” list below I actually don’t mind popping back onto my TBR if I am convinced. Yes I am ruthless when it comes to decluttering.)

Rules
- Link back to the original post at Howling Libraries
- Sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, ascending
- Find 5-10 (or more, if you feel ambitious!) titles to purge from your TBR (the “lows”)
- ALTERNATIVE OPTION: Find 5+ titles that are at the BOTTOM of your TBR—books you want to read someday, just not right now!
- Post those 5 books in the list, with a brief explanation
- Next, sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, descending
- List the last 5 (or more!) books you added to your TBR, with a synopsis or your brief summary of why you added it (the “highs”)

The Lows

I know this was a wildly popular book back then and I did hear quite a few good things about the book, but after reading the Goodreads summary for Ender’s Game again, it just doesn’t sound like something I would enjoy…

To be honest, this sounds like a fascinating book to me still. But I am very intimidated by its length (925 pages!!!) In the recent months I’ve been reaching for lighter, quicker reads, so I might not be feeling like reading 1Q84 for a very long time.

I’ve heard mixed thoughts about All the Light We Cannot See. Although for the most part, people seem to enjoy this book, I’ve also heard that the pacing is quite slow… and from my experience, slow-moving books tend to put me into reading slumps lol. Also, historical fiction is not one of my go-to genres.

Shatter Me is a pretty popular series that’s been sitting on my TBR for a while, but I never started it, and now the 6th book is coming out soon and I feel like I will never be able to catch up to it? The description does sound fascinating though.

I am a huge HP fan, but… I couldn’t really get into the Cormoran Strike series. I remember reading book #1 of this series which didn’t really make an impression on me.

The Highs

I haven’t read any of Naomi Novik’s books before (I know, who am I??!) but I’ve heard great things about this author!! Definitely looking forward to reading Spinning Silver!

After reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, I am super excited to read another book by the same author! Plus, Daisy Jones & The Six sounds fascinating!!

LOL. Guys, please don’t hate me, but….. I actually haven’t read Pride and Prejudice yet??!! I did try to read this book way back in the day, but that was during a time when I didn’t appreciate fiction as I do now. I am really looking forward to trying this book again.

I’ve only heard great things about Sadie so I am SO excited to read this!!

I’ve heard mixed reviews about Ninth House so I am going to go into this book with measured expectations, but I’ve loved all the books by Leigh Bardugo that I’ve read so far so I am still very excited about this one!
