The Christmas Carol Book Tag

Hello everyone!

It’s just (gasp) two days until Christmas!! Are you guys excited? How are you celebrating the holidays this year?

It’s been hectic for me, as always, during this time of the year. Lots of events and get-togethers with family and friends. It’s busy in a good way- however after the whirlwind of activity is over I am looking forward to curling up in a ball and sleeping for a long time.

Anyway, it is time to do another Christmas book tag! Thank you to Norees @ NoReadsTooGreat for this tag. Be sure to check out her answers too 🙂

YOU’RE A MEAN ONE, MR. GRINCH
Name a villanous character you can’t help but love to hate.

It took me a while to decide on an answer for this one. I’ll have to go with Eli from Vicious. It takes a lot to make a villain truly villanous but I think Eli takes the cake. His motivations give me shivers haha.

ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU
What book do you most want to find under your Christmas tree this year?

Hmm can I say Infinity Son by Adam Silvera??? Technically this book isn’t out until January hahahha but I wouldn’t mind finding an ARC underneath my tree 🙂

RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER
Name a favourite character that had to overcome a major obstacle.

Oh HMM. Because I am super super excited for the Mulan remake in 2020 I will have to pick Mulan for the answer to this question!! Mulan is my favourite Disney “princess” (and I say “princess” because she was never a princess haha.) I knew about Mulan even as a child through Chinese folk tales- she was the girl who decided to take her father’s place in war. Her bravery and loyalty inspired me and she was my role model even when I was a kid.

SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN
Which characters do you think are at the top of Santa’s “Naughty” and “Nice” list?

Naughty: Victor & Eli (Vicious) are always gonna get coal from Santa. Let’s just face the truth here 😉

Nice: Adrian Everhart (Renegades), because he is just so damn nice. And Max, because he is adorable.

FROSTY THE SNOWMAN
What book just melts your heart?

American Panda. Consider my heart melted :’)

FELIZ NAVIDAD
Y
our favourite book that takes place in a country other than your own.

I’ll have to echo Norees’s sentiment here because, well, pretty much 99% of the books that I read take place outside Canada hahaha. However to make this question a bit more challenging I’ll extrapolate it to North America.

I’ll pick Cinder for this question. Recently finished rereading it (and loved it!) In case you don’t know, this book takes place in New Beijing!

IT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR
What book do you read to get in the Christmas spirit?

I don’t think I read a book to get into the Christmas spirit hahaha. However Christmas time is when I have time to sit down and binge read books in general. These are the books that I’ve been binge-reading 🙂

SLEIGH RIDE
What character would you most want to spend the holidays with?

Adrian, Nova, Danna, Oscar and Ruby (from Renegades) seem like a cool bunch to hang out with 🙂

BABY IT’S COLD OUTSIDE
What book do you hate so much you would sacrifice it to the fire to stay warm?

OH. HMM.

You guys are going to hate me for this. BUT I really didn’t enjoy The Toll.

I know. I know. I loved Scythe and Thunderhead but I really couldn’t get into this one.

DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR?
What book would you recommend to everyone?

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is one of my favourite reads this year 🙂

How do you celebrate Christmas? What are your favourite Christmas carols? Let me know how you would answer some of these questions!

  4. Lovely tag (: and I love Christmas. I can’t believe it’s over already though 😔 I hope you had a wonderful time. Also I can’t wait for the Mulan movie to come out and will hopefully, finally, read Evelyn Hugo soon. I just want to get started with reading again as I haven’t lately then I’ll order it into the library (:

  5. Lovely answers for this tag, Sophie! I can’t believe I haven’t read the Scythe series just yet, I’ve heard so many incredible things about it. I’m so sorry you were disappointed by that last book though 😦 (is it the last one?) LOVE Cinder so much!! 🙂

    1. Haha yeah I might be the outlier for The Toll since I’ve read mostly positive reviews about it (and yes it is the last book.) Yes Cinder is great!!

  6. Yeah, I have to watch Mulan just because I’m Chinese. Dunno if I like the witch factor but we’ll see how it is. I requested Cinder for my tween; she read The Red Queen series and loved it. Told her Cinder is probably just as bloody.

    1. Yeah I’m not sure how I feel about the villain being a witch in Mulan.. interested in seeing how it plays out. Hope that your tween will like Cinder 🙂
