Dreamy Book Covers Tag

Hello everyone!

I am super excited to do this tag today since I feel like I haven’t done a book covers tag in a long time haha. A slight disclaimer though: however much I love looking at book covers, I actually only own a small collection of physical books. Therefore, 86% of my answers to this tag (and yes that is an exact calculation) is based on my impression of the digital book covers!

Thank you Beth @ Reading Every Night for this tag! We’ve known each other for over a year now and Beth has always been very kind and sweet, and her blog has very awesome content, so do go and pay her a visit!!

Rules:

  • Thank the lovely person who tagged you, spread the love!
  • Mention Tiana at The Book Raven as the creator of this book tag!
  • Use the original tag image in your post. (However, feel free to add whatever other graphics your heart desires!)
  • Tag at least 1 fellow blogger for this tag.
  • List the rules

No Ideas but in Things:

A book cover that perfectly expresses the novel inside it

Because this book is about female Russian pilots who fought in the Second World War, I thought the cover reflects Among the Red Stars perfectly. Really, really loved the girl power in this book! (Check out my review here.)

Sugary Sweet:

A cute cover that is so fluffy you want to give it a hug

Of course! How can To All the Boys not come to mind for this question? I loved the covers for each of the books in this series SO much. The story and the characters are just as cute and sweet. (Check out my series review here.)

The Simple Aesthetic:

A book cover that stuns with the most minimalistic of design

I LOVE minimalist designs and in particular I adore these covers for the Vicious duology by V.E. Schwab! Vicious is probably one of my favourite books by this writer, although I wasn’t as impressed by Vengeful which came a decade later. (Check out my reviews for Vicious and Vengeful.)

Cover Envy:

A book cover you wish you had on your shelves, but don’t yet

The cover of Girls of Paper and Fire was love at first sight for me! It is a book that I’ve read/listened to, although I don’t own a physical copy. (Check out my review here.)

I also really admire the cover of Descendant of the Crane, which is still on my TBR!

Travelling Abroad:

A book cover featuring a country outside of your own

Of the books that I’ve read that takes place in other countries, I realized that actually not many have a cover that features said countries hahahaha. For this question, I decided to go with Anna and the French Kiss. There are two versions of the cover and by a landslide, I like the first one (pink and red) so much more than the second. (Check out my review here.)

The Colour Wheel:

A cover that showcases one of your favourite colours

If you can’t tell already by the theme of this blog, I am a big fan of blue and red! So Emmy & Oliver will of course be my pick for this question! I love the simplicity of the design, so this was on my shortlist for “A Simple Aesthetic” as well. (Check out my review here.)

Switching Gears:

A cover change you absolutely adore

I was never too big of a fan of the original Harry Potter covers (please don’t hate me!!!!!! *shields self from thrown tomatoes*) BUT I really love the 10th anniversary edition which I own a copy of! (Check out my reflections on re-reading HP.)

And the Winner is…

Which book cover mentioned above is your favourite?

I’ll have to pick Descendant of the Crane. I love the intricate illustrations which remind me so much of the traditional Asian art style. The colour scheme is also beautiful. This book is still on my TBR but I definitely want to read it soon!

I won’t tag anyone this time around, but if you want to give this tag a try, go for it!! I would love to hear about your favourite book covers!!

What are your favourite book covers? Let me know how you would answer these questions!

Psst!!! My 2-year blogiversary Q&A and giveaway is still happening!! I’m taking any burning questions that you may have about reading, writing, blogging, and pretty much anything (but be reasonable!)  Click here (or the happy fishy below) to check out my Q&A post.

  2. I never liked the HP covers, either. They appeared too amateur and childish.
How can you remember all the books you’ve read to do such a tag? Do you have a list?

    1. Yes haha, agreed about the HP covers 🙂
I use Goodreads to keep track of the books that I’ve read, otherwise I can never remember them for tags like this haha 🙂

      1. Good idea. I’ve started using my local library as such. I save every book I have read with a short review.

  4. I haven’t read to all the boys’ series but the covers are to die for. It’s sweet, memorable and not too much in the face even with using human on the cover because usually the covers I’ve seen using real human are horrendous lol

    1. Hi Rasya! Yes the covers for To All the Boys are what drew me in haha. You are right that not all covers that feature humans get it right, but it really worked well in this case 🙂

  5. I just finished Always and Forever, Lara Jean, and I forgot how much I love the series! It’s sweet yes, and the cover totally reflects that 🙂 I love the cover of Vicious duology too, and HP have some of the best covers!

    1. That’s awesome that you just finished Always and Forever. I thought it was a great end to the series 🙂 Sounds like you liked the finale?
Glad that you like the Vicious and HP covers as well 🙂

  6. To be completely honest I don’t usually give covers a second look since it’s the content inside that matters to me. That said, my favourite cover still is not a book in the strict sense but the cover of Vampire: the Masquerade 2nd Edition book.

    1. Hey Michael!! That’s great that you are more drawn by content rather than by the book cover haha. Even though I read/listen to ebooks and audiobooks more than physical copies, I can’t help but be influenced by the cover 🙂 I liked the cover of Vampire! It really stands out!

  8. I love your answers for this tag Sophie. ❤ You've featured some gorgeous covers as well, when it comes to YA contemporary covers they usually never fail to be designs which are sugary sweet, but the Lara Jean books are covers that actually fit the story really well too (it could have been a good answer for the first question as well).
All of V.E. Schwab's books have incredible designs, the US covers of the Shades of Magic series have that minimalistic design like Vicious and Vengeful do, they just work so well for her books.
I can also definitely see why Descendant of the Crane made your favourite cover out of all the ones you featured, it's so gorgeous, and I hope you manage to get a physical copy for your shelves soon too (I also hope the book itself is as amazing as the cover is).
    Great post. 🙂 ❤

    1. Yes definitely! I love how the covers for Lara Jean really suit the story. I also like the covers for the Shades of Magic series as well 🙂
I am looking forward to reading Descendant of the Crane! Although the story sounds interesting, it really is the cover that drew me in hahah 🙂 Thank you Beth ❤

      1. I feel like with YA contemporary it’s always easy to find covers that fit the story, fantasy it’s usually up to our own interpretation of the worlds and the stories and no one’s is ever the same you know?
        That’s all right. 🙂 ❤

  9. Ahh lovely answers for this tag! I love book covers so much and, when a book has a beautiful cover, I can’t help but want to own a physical copy of it haha. I love the Lara Jean covers so much, they’re so, so pretty and fluff and ahhh, I love them SO much ❤

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Absolutely!! Even though I don’t have many physical copies of books, I am still attracted to books with pretty covers haha 🙂 Yes the Lara Jean covers are so cute and just perfect for the story inside!
