    Thanks for nominating me! I’ve never read Rebecca, but this quote totally reminds me of one of the tents at The Night Circus. Erin Morgenstern must have been a Daphne du Maurier fan!

        I think I re-read it last year? Not time for me again yet. I’ve got some other re-reads I want to do first. Uprooted, maybe.

        It must have been 5 years or so since I read the night circus, so it’s about time that I reread it! It’s amazing that people still talk about it thought it’s been a while since it was published 🙂
        I haven’t read uprooted before though I’ve heard good things about Naomi Novik’s books 🙂

        I’ve been a Naomi Novik fangirl since before I knew she was a big deal. I got into her dragon series after cover-selecting on a whim. It’s hands down my favorite dragon novel. Then I picked up Uprooted when I just saw it sitting at the bookstore just because it was Naomi Novik. I had no idea it was so popular or that it won the Hugo Award and all that jazz. Still loved it. If you like The Night Circus or The Bear and the Nightingale I strongly recommend Uprooted.

        Sounds like you’re a true fan! I added Uprooted to my tbr since it sounds like a fascinating story. I hope to read The Bear and the Nightingale soon too 🙂

    I would like that memory bottle too, lol.

    My favorite literary classics are: The Mill on the Floss by George Eliot, and Demons by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, both of whom are two of my favorite authors. And they both write psychologically intense prose!

    I haven’t read Rebecca either but this is another great quote Sophie, also I would love it if there was a way to bottle memories. I have a really sucky memory so something like that would be a massive help for me! 😀

      Glad that you like this quote Beth 🙂 I can relate to this quote a lot since I associate scents with memory. Smelling a certain scent can remind me of events that happened before. (Not sure if this happens with other people or just me!)
      I would also love to bottle memories up and hang onto them 🙂

        I’m gonna say I actually get that a little, there are plenty of smells that I associate with memories from my childhood. If I could bottle those memories up I’d like to live in them. 🙂

    I lovvvvvve this quote. It reminds me of the madeleine cakes of Marcel Proust (when melting in his mouth it reminded him of his childhood). Have you read Perfume, the story of a murderer by Patrick Süskind? I think that you would like this novel.
