March Goals and TBR! (+ journal spread)

Copy of Hello-3

Hello everyone!

WHOA… Did I say MARCH!?

YES, IT’S MARCH! I am in complete and utter disbelief. I mean, last time I checked, it was still the middle of winter and it was cold and we were talking about Christmas and the New Year?! Where did all the time go!?

giphy

Tell me that I am not the only one who feels this way!

Anyway! I am super glad that spring is on its way! I am a spring/summer person! (What am I doing in Canada? … I have no idea.)

Blog_tbr

I am actually so, SO excited about reading each and every one of these books. The one that I am starting with is Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier, which I have been curious about ever since my childhood (seriously!)

I discovered this gorgeous print edition at a second-hand book store. Although this is a 2003 edition, it is still in mint condition! It is meant to be!

Reading

giphy20

Read 5 books! Unhaul my books! Dabble in some Classic literature!

Writing

giphy21

Write a bit each day. I did this throughout February and it worked really well. I loved the idea of keeping the creative juices flowing without having the pressure of writing a certain amount each day.

However, I realized that it takes me a while to get into the mindset of writing, and that sometimes doesn’t happen when I write in short bursts. Also, I haven’t been writing much during the weekends (thanks to an addictive board game #nothanks). So…

Commit to 2 weekends of writing. For my previous novel, the bulk of my writing was done on the weekend, and that was when I felt most in tune with my characters and my story. I want to have the same feeling with my new novel too.

Blogging

giphy22

Post twice weekly. Blog-hop twice weekly.

Post about my other weird and wonderful hobbies (pole! DIY! travel! fashion!?) I have some super exciting updates coming up, which I just need to put into pictures and words!

Life

giphy23

Continue to compost, recycle, and use reusable napkins/containers/shopping bags. I am super happy with how this is going!

Use reusable produce bags. These are the thinner bags that you get from the grocery store to hold loose fruits and veggies BEFORE going to the cashier. Since reusable produce bags are harder to come by……. this might be a DIY!?

My Bullet Journal*

I was inspired by Shanah and Kelly’s beautiful bullet journal spreads, so I decided to attempt my own! You guys can see some of my reading/writing/blog goals here. Rebecca and The Bell Jar are on my “must-read list” this month, while the other choices are flexible (since I am a mood reader!)

IMG_5349

*Pssst…. I am kind of cheating on this bullet journal thing! This is an actual journal, in that the weekly pages are already laid out. However there are blank pages at the end of each month which I am using for my monthly goals. I thought this would be a good and non-intimidating way to ease into the bullet journal business 🙂

What is your favourite season in the year? What books are on your TBR for March? Do you have a journal or bullet journal?

For the writers: Do you like writing in short bursts or in long stretches? Are you a weekend warrior?

  1. Great post Sophie, and I hope you manage to achieve all these goals and get through all the books on your to-read list as well. Days of Blood and Starlight is actually on my to-read list for March (part of my goal to re-read more this year) and I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I did. 🙂
Also good luck with your WIP, I feel like I should set some writing goals because I keep falling further and further behind when it comes to my overall goals, maybe baby steps will help more.
Great post, and again I hope you have a great March! 😀 ❤

    1. Hello Beth! Thank you ❤ 🙂 I don’t have too high expectations for my tbrs- I am such a mood reader so I am happy if I end up reading half these books haha 🙂 however it is fun to pick books for this post each month.
That’s great to hear that you are rereading Days of Blood and Starlight this month! Do you buddy read by any chance? 🙂
I think baby steps are underrated! Slow and steady wins the race I think 🙂 I am all for setting small goals that we are able to accomplish! It feels more motivating to reach small goals than to fail bigger ones doesn’t it?
Wishing you a wonderful March as well 🙂

      1. That’s all right! 😀 Oh I’m a mood reader as well, but I kind of have a backlog of books I’m in the mood to read (if that makes any sense).
I haven’t done a buddy read before but if you want to for Days of Blood and Starlight I would love to.
Small goals will probably help me more than big ones at this stage. I shouldn’t say I’m behind because that’s not 100% accurate, there are other reasons as well but my inability to plan ahead is a main one. 😀
        Thanks. 🙂 ❤

      2. Haha yes, I have a backlog of books as well!
This would be my first buddy read too lol 🙂 Maybe you can let me know when you will begin to read this book so we can start together? 😀
Oh I see.. Hope March will be a better month of writing for you. Let me know if I can help! I am always happy to be a soundboard 🙂

      3. Well I was planning to start it on Monday, so let me know if that’s OK with you or if it’s too soon we can start it a little later, I don’t mind. 🙂
Fingers crossed, and thanks so much for the offer as well Sophie! 😀 ❤

      4. Can we start on Wednesday? I just need to finish reading my current book! Or you can get started, and I can catch up 🙂

      5. Yeah Wednesday is fine with me. May give me an opportunity to catch up on some blogging/WIP stuff in the meantime. 🙂

  3. I loved Aristotle and Dante! 🙂
On top of my TBR this month I have The Shining, which I’ve been trying to finish for about a year now hahah. Also Truthwitch!
I love your bullet journal, especially the sustainable living part 🖤
Good luck with your writing goals! I’m having a hard time lately getting back on track with my usual writing schedule. I’ve tried both short bursts and long stretches but nothing seems to be working lately. I always have a new project that needs my attention! Hopefully March will be more productive and I’ll get back into my WIP!

    1. Hi Audrey!
I’ve heard a lot about The Shining (who hasn’t?!), however it sounds like a scary novel! Hope that you will enjoy it!
It seems like your writing is going through a rough patch but hope that you will find inspiration. I know the feeling of having a new project- it is exciting but sometimes distracting for our current project haha 🙂 Wishing you a wonderful March!

  4. No you are not the only one, I think we are still in February (weather definitely thinks that). Your tbr looks great can’t wait for your reviews. I don’t normally make a reading schedule, I m such a mood reader! You other goals are great too, there is an energy beaming out of them. I almost feel a complete under achiever! For March I ll try at least to get an Ex Libris cast every week.

    1. Yes it is still pretty cold over here too! I am also a mood reader and usually my tbr barely matches what I read, however there are some books that I really want to make a commitment to read this month 🙂 haha I like setting goals since it motivates me to get things done. 1 episode a week sounds like a great goal 🙂

  5. Oh I am a spring and summer kind of person as well, I can’t WAIT for the winter season to finally be over, I am soooooooooo tired of the cold hahaha 🙂
I’m so glad you have been able to write a little bit everyday in February – I hope you will manage to do the same in March! I also want to start re-writing / editing for real my WIP now… if I can get started, ahah, that’s one of my goals for this month too 🙂
And YAY for talking about your other hobbies – I can’t wait to read these posts 🙂
Best of luck for all of your goals! xx

    1. Same!!! Bring on the sunshine and the warm weather hahaha 🙂
That’s great that you are planning to start editing!! It is a tough process, but rewarding I think 🙂 Hope that you will be able to reach your writing goals! Let me know if I can help! I am always glad to be a soundboard 🙂
I think I need to write more in March haha. Writing a bit each day is great, but it doesn’t add to much when I write 100 words a day lol 🙂
Wishing you a happy March as well, Marie ❤

      1. Oh thank you so much, Sophie, I’ll remember that when I start editing and… losing my mind hahaha 🙂
At least you are writing, every little word matter 🙂 x

      2. Haha yes, it’s good to remember that every word matters and every sentence counts 🙂 Wishing you all the best with editing!

  6. Oh, I loved the Legend trilogy by Marie Lu so much when I read it! I hope you enjoy the second book in the trilogy 😊 And I see you’re moving into the bullet journal trend as well! 😆 I was a little intimidated to start bullet journaling at first, just because it seemed like there was so much I had to do to create & maintain one, so I think combing your bujo with your planner is a really good idea. I’ve been using a bullet journal consistently since December/January, and it’s pretty useful once you find a way to make it work for yourself. 😊👍

I hope you have an amazing March! Good luck with your WIP & reading! 📚

    1. Hello Zoie!
That’s great to hear that you enjoyed the legend trilogy! Now I feel more motivated to continue reading haha 🙂
That’s awesome that you’ve been making a habit of bullet journaling for a while now. Doing a full bullet journal might be too much for me (I don’t think I will have the time to lay out all the pages neatly!) however I like the idea of setting goals and using the journal to keep track of that. It really helps me to stay organized and be productive! I think I will stick to my planner for the next little bit 🙂
      Thank you Zoie ❤

  10. Honestly you need to cheat with bullet journaling sometimes… it takes time to write out pages… still I LOVE it, it’s so helpful to me to keep on track. And I love I can change my system when it’s not work8ng for me…

WHAT A GORGEOUS COPY OF Rebecca! I enjoy the book though it gets boring to me in places… but the audiobook is where my eyes were really opened about the way the writing flows… so much to learn from it! Happy reading and goal keeping Sophie! ♥️

    1. Hi Dani! That’s great that you do bullet journalling too 🙂 I think I may continue to cheat with bullet journalling for a long time haha, since I don’t have the time to lay out each page :’) Yes I also love that journalling helps me stay on track and feel more organized!
I am glad that you enjoyed Rebecca! Yes, the writing is amazing! I am about 80% of the way through the book- though I like the book so far, I think I kind of saw the plot twist coming lol 🙂

  13. Oh my gosh, Sophie, I agree—where the hell did time go??? It feels like we only just celebrated the new year and now it‘s already March??? It amazes me XD

I should definitely try to write on weekends! I always have the motivation to write and I feel like I COULD write a little bit each day but, like you, I find that I lose my writing mojo when I write in short periods!

And I really like your journal spreads! Don’t you worry about cheating haha I totally would have done the same if I already had an existing journal! My friend got me an actual bullet journal for Christmas so I tried my hand at it and so far it’s going really well! It does take some time to set up the whole thing though and I don’t always have the energy for it 😂

Good luck with your writing and reading this month! ❤

That is great that you always have motivation to write. This new project is taking some time to warm up to me, but I think I am slowing hitting my groove 🙂

That’s great that you are liking bullet journalling so far! Looking forward to see your journal spreads, if you will be posting them? 🙂 Wishing you a happy March as well!
