Hello everyone!

Can you all believe that it is September already?! It’s already the 4th of the month and I am still in denial!

I am not a fan of cold weather (“Sophie, are you REALLY a Canadian?” *Sophie hides*), but there are aspects that I like about autumn: Like how it is a quieter season with fewer weddings and adulting demands, which means more time to do the things I love, like reading, writing, and blogging!

The beginning of the month also means that it is now time to choose books for my monthly TBR, which is something that I am super duper excited for. It’s sorta like opening a box of chocolates and deciding which ones you get to eat 🙂

They Both Die at the End (by Adam Silvera) tells the story of Rufus and Mateo, two strangers who meet on the last day of their lives. I JUST finished History is All You Left Me, which kept me turning the pages from beginning to end. I absolutely fell in love with Adam Silvera’s writing, and I can’t wait to read this one. 

Carry On (by Rainbow Rowell) is about the adventures of Simon Snow, who is apparently the Chosen One, in his last year at the Watford School of Magicks. I loved Fangirl, Landline, and Eleanor & Park. There hasn’t been a book of Rainbow Rowell’s that I didn’t love. Very excited 🙂

Looking for Alaska (by John Green) tells the story of Miles, a nerdy teenager, whose life changes forever when he meets the beautiful, unpredictable Alaska. I haven’t been consistently loving John Green’s books so far (never got through The Fault in Our Stars, though I did like Paper Towns), but I heard that this book is a good one. We’ll see how it goes 🙂

Wintergirls (by Laurie Halse Anderson) is about Lia’s struggle with anorexia. I absolutely loved Speak, which was so masterfully written, and I can’t wait to read another book by Laurie Halse Anderson.

One of my goals this month is to read more Adult contemporary fiction: (Since I am now, er, kind of sort of, *gulp* an Adult)

Tuesdays with Morrie (by Mitch Albom) tells the story of the author’s interactions with his mentor, Morrie, in the last years of his life. Mitch Albom was one of my favourite writers growing up, and this is one of his most famous books that I haven’t yet read.

In Two by Two (by Nicholas Sparks), Russell Green is living the perfect life with his wife, six-year-old daughter, and leads a successful career. One day, he loses his wife and his job, and struggles to raise his daughter as a single father. You know that horrifying moment when you realize a book sounds so much like the book that you are trying to write? That’s…. kind of what I feel about this one. Why I’m reading it is beyond me. LOL :’)

Here are my goals for the end of September:

1. READ six books. As above 😉
2. Finish WRITING that novel. Yes, the one that I’ve been working on for the past year. As much as I love my characters and they are like my literary babies, I am… kind of ready to be done with them (sorry Matt sorry Olivia), especially now that I have a Shiny New Idea fighting for brain space. LOL :’)
3. BLOG three times a week. Also, I want to spiffy this blog up a bit: For example, finally create a reviews index!
4. SLEEP seven hours a day. Unfortunately, sleep has been something I’ve been sacrificing in the past few months, but it’s so, so important. After all, I want to live to a hundred 😉
