Book Quote #3: “We love what we love”

0_intro_love-100642565-orig

“So yes. It had flaws, but what does that matter when it comes to matters of the heart? We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That’s as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and perfect.”

– The Wise Man’s Fear, Patrick Rothfuss

This is one of my favourite quotes from The Kingkiller Chronicle series. I think it speaks for itself. I am speechless πŸ™‚

Are there any book quotes that speak to your heart?

Cheers,

Sophie

β€œThat sounds crazy. Am I crazy? Have I lost my mind? You can call someone crazy if there’s someone else who’s normal. Like good and evil. If everything was good, then nothing would be good.” – Cassieopia Sullivan, The Fifth Wave

    1. That’s an interesting quote! I definitely had to read it more than once to appreciate the meaning. I agree that normal is relative, as with “crazy”. Thanks for sharing πŸ™‚

This is such a beautiful quote! I have yet to read The Wise Man’s Fear, mainly because I’m waiting for the third book so I can binge, but Patrick Rothfuss is an incredible writer. πŸ™‚ I think the quote that’s stuck in my mind is this one from The Perks of Being a Wallflower:

β€œI think that if I ever have kids, and they are upset, I won’t tell them that people are starving in China or anything like that because it wouldn’t change the fact that they were upset. And even if somebody else has it much worse, that doesn’t really change the fact that you have what you have.”

    1. Yes unfortunately there is no release date yet for the third book! I am waiting impatiently πŸ™‚
That is a lovely quote as well. I agree that we can’t compare suffering between one person and another, since everyone experiences it differently.
You reminded me of another quote from Perks of Being a Wallflower that haunts me to this day: “We accept the love that we think we deserve.” Which I think is so, so true.
      Thanks for stopping by πŸ™‚
